Kleinwort Hambros, the trust, private banking and wealth management business of Societe Generale in the UK, Channel Islands and Gibraltar, has appointed Stuart Barnett as chairman designate of the board of directors of SG Kleinwort Hambros Bank Limited, effective from 6 November 2017.
He will, subject to regulatory approval, replace Warwick Newbury following his decision to retire from the SG Kleinwort Hambros Bank Limited board and take up a new position as chairman of the board of directors of Sandaire, an independent multi-family investment office.
Mr Barnett joined SG Hambros Bank Limited (now named SG Kleinwort Hambros Bank Limited) as an independent non-executive director in August 2014. In May 2017 he was appointed deputy chairman of the bank. Prior to joining Kleinwort Hambros, Mr Barnett was a senior partner in the Deloitte Financial Services Practice.
In his new role Mr Barnett will work closely with the SG Kleinwort Hambros Bank Board, and will act as a direct liaison between the board and Eric Barnett, chief executive of Kleinwort Hambros. In the short-term, and as part of the transition arrangement, he will work alongside Warwick Newbury, who will remain in his position as chairman of the board of directors of SG Kleinwort Hambros Bank Limited until the completion of its full legal merger with Kleinwort Benson Bank on 6 November 2017.
With assets under management of £16 billion and over 1,000 employees, Kleinwort Hambros has offices in London, Cambridge, Newbury, Leeds, Edinburgh, Guernsey, Jersey and Gibraltar.
