UK-based law firm Harbottle & Lewis has appointed Jonathan Burt as a partner in its private capital practice headed by managing partner Glen Atchison.
Based in London, Mr Burt has joined from Harcus Sinclair where he was a partner since 2012. He had previously worked as a managing director at Barclays Wealth where he was on the management committee of their international tax, trust and insurance businesses. Before that he worked in Baker McKenzie’s wealth management department where he became partner in 2004.
He has more than 20 years’ experience advising on international private client matters and specialises in sophisticated complex cross-border tax and succession planning, multi-jurisdictional investment structures and advisory work for trustees, beneficiaries and families with international interests.
Mr Burt will be the fifth partner in the private capital team advising business owners, entrepreneurs and international families on their legal issues.
