Law firm Stephenson Harwood has strengthened its private wealth team with the arrival of partner Laurence Ho, who joins the firm's Hong Kong office.
Mr Ho's practice is focused on international tax, trust and estate planning matters for high net worth individuals, families, estates and fiduciaries.
"Laurence's arrival marks an important step in the growth and development of our international private wealth practice," said 2018 eprivateclient 50 Most Influential and Stephenson Harwood's head of private wealth, James Quarmby.
"His experience and understanding of US tax and estate planning matters will complement our existing capabilities, and enables us to expand the support we offer our clients."
Mr Ho is also experienced in advising on US expatriation and pre-immigration matters, as well as counselling individuals and families on their US tax compliance and foreign bank account reporting obligations. He joins Stephenson Harwood from Withers where he was a partner.
"Laurence's arrival is an exciting development for the private wealth team in Asia," further commented Stephenson Harwood partner Ian Devereux, head of the firm's private wealth team in Greater China.
Mr Devereux added that Mr Ho was "among the most active US trusts and estates attorneys in the Greater China and ASEAN region. Laurence's Cantonese and Mandarin language skills will be a valuable asset to our clients."
Mr Ho's appointment follows the arrival in Hong Kong, in June 2016, of private wealth partner Erik Wallace.
