Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth has recruited two new partners to the national law firm’s Newbury and Chichester offices in the law firm's tax, trusts and estates team.
Joining from Hunters in London, partner Andrew Parry has expertise in lifetime and post-death tax and succession planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney. He has experience of advising the owners of landed estates and rural businesses, private individuals, trustees of private trusts and charities. Mr Parry is a fellow of the Agricultural Law Association and a member of Solicitors for the Elderly.
David Bird has been appointed by Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth’s Chichester office. Mr Bird has expertise in tax and trust law and advises on tax planning for a variety of clients including business owners, shareholders in private companies and families with inherited wealth. He also creates Trusts, Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney and advises on existing structures. As well as being a solicitor, Mr Bird is a Chartered Tax Adviser.
Prior to qualifying as a solicitor more than 20 years ago, Mr Bird worked in financial services where he gained investment, insurance and pension qualifications, which has given him a wider view of tax planning. He works with a number of financial advisers and accountants for various types of clients.
Sarah Phillips, a partner who heads up the private wealth team at Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth’s Newbury office, said: “Andrew’s appointment is yet another step forward for the firm as we look to continue to develop the range of expertise we are able to offer to our clients based in the South East.
“We are delighted to welcome Andrew to the firm and know that he will be an incredibly important asset as we continue to build on our growing reputation and ability to provide first-class tax, trust and estate services across the UK.”
Michael Taylor, partner and head of the private wealth team in Chichester, added: “We’re very excited to have David, who has such a wealth of experience, join our team. David’s Chartered Tax Adviser status and contacts in the financial advice sector combined with his many years in the private wealth profession further enhances our already strong Chichester team. David’s ability to consider the corporate aspects of a transaction or tax planning arrangement for an individual shareholder will enable us to provide a comprehensive service to our personal clients.
“We look forward to working with David and I’m confident that he will be a great addition to the local and wider national team.”
Last year Irwin Mitchell merged with Thomas Eggar expanding its presence in London and the South East and has also acquired specialist personal injury firm MPH Solicitors and private wealth firm Berkeley Law in the past few years.
